Carolyn S. (Gallogly) Thatcher, age 85, of Westerville peacefully slipped away to enter her Heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 23, 2021 with family at her side.
She was born December 4, 1935 to the late Arthur and Florence (Nye) Gallogly of Westerville. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 66 years Robert Thatcher, sister Shirley (Kirk) Brunne of Port Loring, Ontario, Canada and sister in-law Suzanne Gallogly of Columbus.
She was predeceased by her brothers Richard (Dick) Gallogly and John (Jack) Gallogly. Carolyn leaves her four children; sons Douglas (Leslie) Thatcher of Poinciana, Florida, Keith (Brenda) Thatcher of Westerville, Scott (Sarah) Thatcher of Westerville and daughter Cheryl (Robert) Evans of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carolyn was also predeceased by granddaughter Erin Corbin.
Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Westerville, born and raised on South State Street. She was a member of the Spring Road Church of Christ in Westerville and truly believed the only way to Heaven is through Jesus the Christ. She loved being surrounded by family and was a 1953 graduate of Westerville High School. Carolyn retired many years ago from Lennox Industries.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus (near Westerville Rd.), with funeral service to follow immediately. Interment will be at Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org, as Carolyn was an 18 year survivor of breast cancer. Donations may also be made to the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation at www.nnpdf.org. Carolyn's granddaughter, Erin Corbin, succumbed to Niemann-Pick in 2000 at the young age of 12. It is a rare, but devastating disease that primarily affects children.
