Charles Paul Dittmer

Charles P. Dittmer, 89, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and The Villages Florida passed away on July 13, 2024, in Blacklick, Ohio. Born on March 27, 1935, to Katharine O’Neill and George Dittmer, Charles graduated from West Catholic High School and was a member of the Philadelphia Police Department for almost 25 years – retiring in 1980. 

Affectionately known as “Chuck”, he is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Helen Rumbarger Dittmer; his blended family of 8 children – Paul G Dittmer and his wife Debbie Martin Dittmer, Charles P Dittmer and his wife Maryellen Servis Dittmer, David M Dittmer and his husband Michael Ignacio Santiago, Michael Hughes, Peggi Hughes McGrath, Richard Hughes and his wife Jennifer Burford Hughes, Stephanie Hughes and her wife Sue Mackey and Rhea Hughes. 

 Also survived by 12 grandchildren – Cayley & Lauren, Melissa, Jacob, Maria Frances, Michael, Cole, Kaeli, Sean, Cara, Marley and Clark, and 4 great-grandchildren – Levi, Noah, Hannah and Jonathan. 

Chuck was sadly predeceased by his son Bill Hughes, his great-grandson Ezekiel Wallace, as well as his beloved sister Mary Katharine and her husband Sidney Hay.

Graveside services for Chuck will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064 on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 at 11:00 am.
