Charles E. Bowen, 71, of Columbus, OH passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 12, 1940 in Columbus, OH and continued to be a lifelong resident of the area. On February 18, 1960 he married the love of his life, Viva. They recently celebrated 51 years together. As a truck driver for nearly 40 years, Charlie spent many miles on the road. He retired from trucking in 2010. A talented musician, Charlie had a passion to play many instruments. Whether it was a stage on the weekend, or in the basement of his home, there was never an audience too big or too small. He acquired some great friendships over the years, all of which he held forever dear to his heart. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Neva, brother, Stanley, sisters, Mildred and Doris. He is survived by his wife, Vi, daughters, Cathy (Steve), Diana (Howard), Karen (Rick), sister, Evelyn (Everett), sister-in-law, Trudy, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many beloved relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm, Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30pm, Monday, February 27, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
