Charles Allen Smith, age 76, passed away on February 7, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 16, 1945 to the late Leona (Howard) and Albert Smith in Grove City, Ohio.
Charlie graduated from Franklin Heights High School, Class of 1963. He loved the outdoors, working with his hands and "deals." He retired from Mason Sand and Gravel 14 years ago, yet continued working independently.
Charlie was also preceded in death by his children, Thomas and Christine; 10 siblings, Orville, James, Louise Spangler, Bob, Ray, June Johnson, John, George, Donald and Nancy Wetzel.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 23 years, Brenda; daughter, Charlotte (Woody) Hager; son, Richard (Kristen); daughter-in-law, Imelda Smith; sisters-in-law, Carrie and Carolyn; grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Riley, Jennifer (Josh) Neiswanger, Emily (DJ) Steele, Billy Hager, Josh (Karen) Smith, Ashley (Bryan) Hoffman and Nicole (Ricky) Lambert; great-grandchildren, Sammy, Aubree, Julianne, Janilyn, Josephine, David, Emmett, Victoria, Dalton and Maeve.
The visitation will be on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer-SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway in Grove City, Ohio 43123. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday followed by procession to Concord Cemetery.
The family extended their sincere appreciation to Zangmeister Cancer Treatment Center and Mt. Carmel Hospice for their care, concern and counsel. With hospice assistance, Charlie's desire to be at home for his final days was made possible.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to Mt. Carmel Hospice or Franklin County Humane Society.
