Charles Thompson, 74, of Grove City, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Mt. Carmel West. He was born February 18, 1935, in Cadiz, OH, son of the late Emerson and Sadie Carrothers Thompson. Charles served as a 1st SGT and dedicated 23 years to U.S. Military Intelligence receiving the Legion of Merit Award and having served in Germany, Italy, Iran, Switzerland, India and the U.S. He also worked for Mosler Security for 12 years and was a member of the American Legion, Retired Veterans Administration and a Mason. He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Jackie Anderson) Thompson of Winfield, MO; daughter, Deborah (Jeffrey) Rose of Grove City; sister, Iva (Hank) Lukacena of Kent; grandchildren, Christina Beavers, Zachary Rose and Jeremy Rose. Visitation will be Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, with military services beginning at 7:00 PM. Graveside service will be Friday, February 5, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
