Charles W. "Bill" Dolby, 82, of Grove City, OH, passed away peacefully, February 21, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean L. (Burris) Dolby. Bill was born on June 9, 1928 in Columbus to the late Charles Henry Dolby and Verda Baker. Bill is survived by his children, Deborah (Lee) Durham, Kathy (Richard) Copas, William (Kris) Dolby, Stacy (Steve) Morman, step-children, Steven (Tonya) Stewart, Stanley (Audrey) Stewart, Scott Stewart, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren, brother, Donald (Pam) Dolby, sisters, Helen Louise (Gene) Demers, Patty (Myron) Smyth, Dixie (Frank) Adkins, special aunt, Helen Elzey and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill served in the U.S. Navy as an E5 in the Pacific Rim. He retired from General Motors in 1986, as a Superintendant of manufacturing, after 39 years of dedicated service. Bill was a devoted husband of 44 years to his late wife, Jean. During his retirement, Bill and Jean built their dream home, a log cabin, in Vinton County. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00am, Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Elk Cemetery, McArthur, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Mount Carmel Hospice.
