Charlotte Ann Aldridge

July 21, 1933 — December 17, 2020

At the age of 87 years old, Charlotte Aldridge went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2020. She was born on July 21, 1933. Charlotte was destined to become the only child of her loving parents, Lee A. and Anna E. Welch (Butler) of Crooksville, Ohio, both of whom preceded her in death.

Charlotte absolutely LOVED a great adventure, all you had to do was give her a call and say 2 little words…. "Road Trip!" Charlotte was up for any adventure, big or small; as long as it didn't involve rivers, lakes or oceans that went past her ankles!! Any form of boats, except for the ferry that would take her to Put-In-Bay and don't even think of getting her on an airplane!! Her favorite saying was, "If God wanted me to fly, he would have given me wings!"

Charlotte loved going to Lake Erie, she would tolerate the ferry to Put-in-Bay or Kelly's Island, but she would always sit in a seat and there she would stay. Over the last few years, Charlotte's health started to decline so her youngest daughter started ferrying her car over so that she wouldn't have to walk far: While on the ferry, Charlotte would stay in the car.
As Charlotte's 4 children grew, their house became "the neighborhood house." For several years Charlotte, her children and the neighborhood kids produced and hosted backyard plays such as the Wizard of Oz, miscellaneous skits and a bake sale, with all proceeds going to Children's Hospital.

During the Christmas season Charlotte along with the neighborhood kids went caroling in the neighborhood with the proceeds going to the Kidney Foundation. They would also travel to Crooksville to visit Ketchup's Senior Living Facility to lead the residents in Christmas carols and pass out small gifts.

Charlotte was a gifted vocalist, she competed during her high school years with numerous first and second place awards. Also, Charlotte was a guest singer in many weddings, churches and various events. Charlotte also performed with the Sweet Adelines in the 70's and 80's.

As her children grew and interests changed to roller skating, Charlotte became "Miss Annie, the Coat Room Lady" at the Linden Roller Rink. She would not only take and watch over the skater's coats, but she listened to the kids' problems, handed out solid advice and gave free hugs to any who needed them.

Charlotte continued to work with children when she began working for the Association for the Development Delayed (ADD) at the Dahlberg Learning Center where she instructed preschoolers with various cognitive delays for the next 20 years.
Charlotte also wrote children's stories about her children and the animals that they all had while growing up. She always wanted her stories to be published, but life and family always seemed to get in the way.

The family would like to extend their forever gratitude to the Fresenius Kidney Care on Karl /Morse Rd. your love and compassion for our mom will never be forgotten. Solomon, your dedication to your clients and staff is an example for us all to uphold!

Charlotte passed peacefully away at her youngest daughter's home, surrounded by her children and their voices.
Her 4 children are left to cherish Charlotte's memory and of those that they all created together; Michael Lee Aldridge (Pam), Linda Squiric (Dennis), Robert Aldridge, Susanna Banche (John).

Charlotte is survived by 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
