Christine Y. Bailey was born on September 29, 1946 to the parents of Eliza M. Artis and William Edward Bailey. She went to the loving arms of our Saviour on July 26, 2015. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Gary Bailey and her sister Marcia (Richard) Early. She leaves to cherish her great memories to her son Kevin (Patricia) Bailey, her grand-daughters Tarinesha Caldwell, Ja'shayla Mason, Jaylan Mason, Jocelyn Bailey and Olivia Bailey, siblings, William (Eva) Bailey, Phyllis Jackson, Ilester Bailey, Vanessa Goldstein, Stephen (Cynthia) Bailey, special friend and business partner, Harriett Malone, long-time friends, Marilyn Williams, Charlene Rivers, Rochelle Bailey and William and Hanna Pack. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and business associates. At an early age she found the Lord, was baptized and became a member of Union Baptist Church.
Throughout the years she became an avid worker in the building of God's kingdom by serving many positions within the church such as Sunday School teacher, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Deaconess, Youth Coordinator, church bus driver. Her lifelong membership as a "Unionite" has saw her through several difficult regime changes within the church. She always joined the activities of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association and because of this she was known by many. Christine was employed by the state of Ohio Department of Transportation where she rose through the ranks from Secretary to Location Coordinator. After a successful 30 year career, she retired in 2000. She then took on the task of opening Crest Tax Service where she and her business partner prepared, corrected and submitted many clients with IRS concerns. Christine will be remembered mostly because of her good heart. She was always willing to help those in need.
It did not matter whether you were family or not. She believed that everyone deserved a second chance and with that in mind she touched the lives of all who came in contact with her.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm, Monday, August 3, 2015 at Union Baptist Church, 3542 First Avenue, Urbancrest, OH 43123, where a funeral service will begin at 12pm with Pastor E. Richard McDaniel officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
