Christopher A. DeCarlo, 98, passed away peacefully at home in Winter Garden, FL on May 24, 2012. He was born on June 22, 1913 to Antonio and Mary (Martina) DeCarlo in Columbus, OH.
He lived in Columbus until age 95 and went to North High School. He spent his career in government defense work and retired from North American Rockwell in 1971. He was an altar boy at St. John's Catholic church in his youth and was an avid bowler most of his life and was very proud of the numerous awards he received. He continued bowling three days per week up to age 95 at the Columbus Bowling Palace and Sequoia Bowling Lanes. He had fond memories of the many friends he met and bowled with during his life. Chris was the ultimate grandfather and enjoyed playing and taking care of his grandchildren. He also had a passion for horses and could be seen at thoroughbred and sulky races on occasion.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Harter DeCarlo,sister Dorothy Melfi, brother Dominic DeCarlo and is survived by son Dale (Francie) DeCarlo, daughter Shirley (Sam)Fountas, brother Nick DeCarlo, sister Pauline Shorter, six grandchildren, Douglas DeCarlo, Christopher (Jackie) Fountas, Matthew (Christine) DeCarlo, Elizabeth Logan, Robert Fountas, and Andrea DeCarlo; seven great grandchildren, Alexandra DeFrancisco, Dominic DeCarlo, Christopher Fountas, Gabriela DeCarlo, Faith Logan, Hope Logan, and Diego DeCarlo; extended family member Edna Teixeira; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, 5-8 PM, Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with a Prayer Service on Saturday, June 2, 2012, 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, OH 43137.
