Christopher Earl Grooms

January 26, 1977 — February 7, 2022

Christopher "Chris" Earl Grooms was born January 26, 1977 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Allison Nesmith-Wilder and Charles A. Grooms Jr. He was raised only knowing the love of family.

From a young age, Chris was adventurous and well-traveled. He was a sponge for knowledge and grew to be quite the computer whiz. He loved learning about the world around him and was never afraid to challenge the status quo.

Chris graduated from Columbus City Schools and went on to become a prolific entrepreneur, creating and owning businesses in computer repair, lawn care and T-Shirt design.

As a game enthusiast, you would often find him leaned over a puzzle, playing cards or dominoes, or arguing over words in a game of scrabble. Even though he famously wore his bright orange hat most days, his favorite color was blue.

By far, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He found his soulmate and partner for life in Daniele and together they raised a house full of amazing children. He loved spending time with them, adored being "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren, and made sure to call his mom every day.

Chris was funny and outgoing, introspective and direct. His smile was infectious and his laugh contagious. While he was taken from us too soon, the imprint of who he was will never leave.

Chris was preceded in death by grandfather Charles A. Grooms Sr., grandfather Salmond (Al) Nesmith, grandmother Jannie Freeman, and uncles Dan Earl Black and Ricardo Grooms.

Those who remain to celebrate his life and continue his legacy include his wife Daniele, his mother Allison (Melvin) Nesmith-Wilder, his father Charles (Valerie) Grooms, his paternal grandmother Norma (Grooms) Goodwyn, his ten children Jalante (Mercedes), Jordan Z., Jordan K., Jalaun, D'Naijha, Kamya, Kamara, LeQuan, Daijona, and Myann, seven grandchildren Halo, Nylah, Nellah, Novah, Taylor, Aniya, and Naiomi, siblings Ciara Wilder, Kara (Ja'Nay) Grooms, Krystyn Grooms and Brent Peters and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, cousins and friends.

The family asks that everyone in attendance where a mask.
