Cindy Sue Asbury

June 1, 1959 — October 2, 2021

Cindy Sue Asbury, age 62, went to meet her Lord and Savior on October 2, 2021, as the result of complications from Covid. Everyone that had the privilege of knowing Cindy knew what a kind and generous person she was. Cindy never met a stranger and she would give anyone the shirt off her back. She was very successful in her professional career but, she never spent any money on herself. She was the first person to help anyone in need. There are so many people that have benefitted from Cindy's generosity. She had the biggest heart and the kindest spirit.

She was the medical "go-to" person for our entire family. She never complained about the late-night calls for advice, or the emergency stops to her house to apply a butterfly stitch or ice pack to every boo-boo, scrape, or injury. She calmed countless young parents during some of their scariest moments.

Cindy was always a hard worker and began her professional career at the young age of 15. She started at a local pharmacy (Edward's Drug Store) and moved to Central Ohio Medical Group (COMG) and then became the Administrator for The Little People's Daycare where she influenced so many young lives. Her most recent career move was in the pharmacy department for the Walgreens organization. Cindy loved all her jobs but, she really enjoyed working with the pharmacy team at Walgreens. Unfortunately, that job was cut short due to a botched gall bladder surgery that started her ongoing health issues for the past 10 years.

Cindy's most important role was being a loving wife, Mom, and Mamaw. Cindy and Rodney had a long, loving relationship that began when their mothers introduced them. Rodney knew after their first date that Cindy was the girl he wanted to marry. They were married six months later and spent 42 very happy years together. They were blessed with their children Jennifer and Joe. Cindy loved being a Mom. She enjoyed every phase of parenthood. From the midnight feedings to the dance recitals, to football games, to college, and to weddings, she celebrated every milestone. She was a loving and compassionate Mom not only to her own children but, to so many others that she "adopted" into her family. Cindy loved being surrounded by little ones.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years Rodney, and their children; Jennifer Asbury and Joseph (Sarah) Asbury. Cindy is also survived by her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Maggie, Otis, and Coralynn. She is also survived by her "adopted" son, Christopher Barr, and "adopted" grandchildren, Cheyenne (Tyler) Thompson and Haleigh (Nate) Dupray.

Cindy is survived by her heartbroken Mother, Dorinda Jean Adkins, her sisters, Sherry Rolfe Adkins, Beth (Tom) Whittington, Angela Schneider, and bonus sister, Chris Noel.

Cindy had an extensive family that loved her and will miss her every day. Mother-in-law, Mabel (Tom) Hawkins, brother-in-law, Keith Asbury, and sister-in-law, Jessie Asbury. Her Aunts and Uncles; Sharon (Joe) Schneider, Penny (Brent) Liston, Patty (Kelton) Barthelmas, Patsy Rolfe-Parrish. Nieces and nephews: Kyle (Brooke) Schneider, Aaron Whittington, Kristen (Anthony) Rodriquez, Mason Schneider, Alexis Whittington, Madison Schneider, Jason Whittington, Brandon (Megan) Asbury, Brandee (Dex) Corns, Montana Yates, and Dakota (Courtney) Yates.

Cindy is also survived by her cousins; Kim, Jeff, Kris, Michael, Kelly Jean, Amy, John, Tracy Lynn, and Mitzi.

Cindy was preceded in death by her grandparents; Harlow and Dorothy Arledge, Doug Sr., and Mabel Rolfe, her father; Reverend Edward Adkins, infant sister; Amy Renee Adkins, cousin, Shelley Rolfe, Brother-in-law, and Sister-in-law; Kevin (Sandy) Asbury and Uncles; Leo Moats and David Rolfe.

Our lives will forever be enriched by the memories of Cindy and how gracious she was to all of us. She was truly the kindest, most loving, and generous person to everyone. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We know she is in the loving arms of her Savior now. While we rejoice that she is no longer suffering, we also grieve for the void she left in all of us.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 10, 2021, from 1-6 p.m., at Newcomer SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 12 noon, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Alton Cemetery.
