CARTER
Clyde C. Carter, 80, of Columbus, passed away October 12, 2006 at his residence. Retired from General Motors Fisher Guide of Columbus after 38 years of service and the United States Navy after 27 years. He was a decorated World War II Veteran of South Pacific-Navy Amphibs, Fleet Air Squadron 693 during the Korean War and the Naval Reserve Seabees during the Vietnam Era. He was a former training officer sub unit 419-RNMCB-20, former operations officer 0520-RNMCB-20, plus many collateral duties before retiring in 1984. Clyde was a Master Mason, York 563-Valley of Columbus, Scioto Consistory and 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was also a member of UAW Local 969, US Navy Seabees of America x-2 Island, American Legion Post 532, VFW Post 4044, Fraternal Order of Police Association Council 5. Clyde was preceded in death by his father, James B.; mother, Bertha I; children, Patricia, Kent and Tara; 1 brother and 1 sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Wanda; children, Sandra (Thomas) Bender, Sue Carter, Dane, Thom (Robin), Steven, Mark (Lisa), Rhonda (Bill) Bell, Terry, Tamara (Elmer) Fletcher, Michele (Bill) Manley and Tomika Estep; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Rachel Clark; brother, Cloyce (Ellen) Carter; brother-in-law, Oden (Vivian) Murray and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM Saturday, October 14, 2006 and 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Monday, October 16, 2006 at the funeral home. Rev. John Meade will be officiating with interment at Grove City Cemetery.
