Constance I. Larsen, a wonderful being, left this earth on the afternoon of June 1st, 2013.
She entered the gates of Heaven followed shortly thereafter by Edith Bunker. No doubt, they became fast friends. By Sunday afternoon, she was having dinner with Granny and joyously reuniting with her family that went on before her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mildred VanHorn and spouse of 62 years, Edward Larsen.
She leaves behind a brother, Frank, a son, Keith (Tracey) Larsen and 3 daughters, Jill (Gregory) Edwards, Jacalyn (David) Baker and Lynette (Steven) Draper as well as grandchildren, Michelle, Tanya, Jason, Elliott, Ethan, Evan, Andrew, Katie, Kevin , Dan and Jen and several great-grandchildren as well as sisters-in-law, Lolly, Edna, Kay and friends that thought the world of her.
In addition to being a loving wife and grandmother, she held many occupations during her 88 years of life. She was a doctor, a nurse, a teacher, a mediator, a mentor, a counselor and at times, a referee. She made sure that our Christmases and birthdays were special but the most priceless gift we were ever given was having her As Our Mom.
Despite years of battling the effects of Parkinson's disease, she was quick with a smile, never complained and til the end, had a wry sense of humor. She had a heart of gold and was one of the most selfless persons one could ever have the fortune of meeting. We know she'll be watching over us from above and we asked if she saw us doing anything at all displeasing to her she could let us know by moving something. No doubt at least one of our houses will have things flying through the air.
She was with us as we took our first breath and we were beside her as she took her last.
She spent the final days of her life at Serenity House where she was cared for with the love and dignity she deserved. We will be eternally grateful to Kellie and her staff for the compassion and caring that they gave our mom and our entire family. We would also like to commend the team at HomeReach Hospice for the support they provided when it was needed most.
To honor her wishes, there will be no service. We will strive to create a memorial that is fitting for such a precious life. Crematory services will be provided by Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City.
Donations may be made in Constance's memory to OhioHealth Foundation, 180 E. Broad St., FL 32, Columbus, OH 43215-9480 or www.ohiohealth.com/foundation.
Enjoy your new wings, mom. Until we meet again.....
"Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath our wings".
