Constance Ann Masterson

February 25, 1939 — January 5, 2023

Constance Ann Masterson "Connie" passed away peacefully at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio on January 5, 2023. Connie was born on February 25, 1939, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Edward and Anna Rogasis (Wasylyniak). She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Stanley "Stan" Masterson, her daughter Michele Sinacori (Thomas), and her grandchildren Nicholas (24) and Sarah (22) Rosato. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Edward Rogasis (Cindy).

Connie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1961 from Montclair State University and was a member of the National Honor Society. After working her first teaching job at East Orange High School (NJ), she applied to be an English teacher for the U.S. Department of Defense. As a result, she was stationed in Germany for two years. It was during this time she met some of her lifelong friends, Veda, Velma, and Rita, with whom she corresponded for many years. After the overseas teaching position ended, Connie returned to the U.S. to live in California with her three friends where, shortly thereafter, she met Stan.

Stan and Connie were married in 1968 and had their daughter Michele in 1970. The family lived in California, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Ohio. Connie was a very supportive wife to Stan and was willing to move wherever Stan's career took them. With no regrets, she stepped away from her career for her family and began working part time as a substitute teacher. In the neighborhood, she met Lina, who became another of her lifelong friends. Wherever Connie lived or worked, her friendships endured throughout her life, and she was grateful for them all.

The Lord turned Stan and Connie's hearts toward Him in 1977, which changed their lives. They began attending Bible studies and seeking out a local church, with each desiring a personal relationship with Jesus. They wanted to live their lives to bring glory to their Lord and Savior. Connie was involved in many Bible studies throughout the years and taught Vacation Bible School in the summer.

Connie loved gardening, cooking, reading, painting, traveling, camping, sailing, and spending time with her family. She created fond memories for daughter and grandchildren, especially by reading books to them in their childhood and enjoying their sports events as they grew older. She was a natural teacher. In recent years, she enjoyed time chatting, shopping, and drinking coffee with her daughter and granddaughter. She had a great sense of humor.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 5-7pm at Grace Presbyterian Church, 5099 Postlewaite Rd., Columbus, OH 43235. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 13th at 9am, also at the church.
