Creola Fay Nuzum Gregory, 87, passed away on October 7, 2023 from heart disease. Creola was born on December 5, 1935 at home in Upshur County, West Virginia. She was the oldest of 3 sisters born to Ruth and Herbert Nuzum. Her 2 sisters were also born at home. Her father died from a tractor accident and so her mother married a wonderful man, Clyde Post, who became a wonderful grandfather to all 9 grandchildren. She graduated from Buckhannon High School, where she participated in the high school sorority, Girls Athletic Association in basketball, pep club and piano lessons. Two weeks after graduation she married Richard (Dick)Franklin Gregory. Dick was serving in the Air Force, so they moved 11 times before his retirement in 1968. They had four children- Dexter, Kimberly, Dennis and Karla.
Creola was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, Dexter, son, Dennis, parents, Ruth and Herbert Claude Nuzum; sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Ray; and nephews, Steven and
Brian Johnson.
Creola is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Reva (Bill) Johnson, daughter, Kimberly (Pat) and 2 grandchildren, Daniel and Karen; daughter-in-law, Patrice; daughter-in-law, Lisa, and
grandson, Richard; daughter Karla (Bruce) and 3 children, Kasey, Keith and Kristy and 2 stepchildren; granddaughter, Dawn and 5 grandchildren; granddaughter, Dena (Steve) and grandsons, Kaleb, Kolten and Gabriel
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
Wounded Warrior Project. Her burial will be at Tuesday, October 17 at 2 pm in Jane Lew, West Virginia.
