Dale Arlen Hoover, 80, of Columbus, passed away peacefully May 21, 2021. He was born September 13, 1940 in Crestline, Ohio, son of the late Arthur W. Hoover and Katherine Hoover (DeVore). Dale is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Janice Hoover (Yost); daughter, Angela (Justin) Hildebrand of Breckenridge, Colorado; son, Scott Hoover of Columbus, Ohio; grandson, Mason Hoover of Dublin, Ohio; sisters, Connie Gray of Brooksville, Florida, and Carol (Richard) Kanable of Crestline, Ohio, and sister-in-laws, Frances Rummel of Galloway, Ohio and Louise Brutchey of Galion, Ohio.
Dale graduated from Leesville High School. He served in the United States Air Force until 1962. Dale then attended in Ohio State University, graduating in 1973. He continued his career with the United States Air Force Reserve until 2000. Dale retired from Cheryl & Co in 2006.
Dale was an active member of Berlin Presbyterian Church since 1977. He taught Sunday School, served as an Elder, Trustee, and most recently, an Usher. He was an active member of American Legion Post 171 Westerville, OH for many years and served in the Honor Guard.
Dale was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved airplanes, travel, learning, reading, and history. He was a happy, kind, and caring man who never met a stranger.
The family will be holding a private memorial service.
