Daniel John Boelter

March 6, 1957 — May 6, 2024

Daniel John Boelter passed away on Monday May 6, 2024 after a brief hospital stay at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on March 6th, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to John and Lorraine Huff.

Danny attended Columbus Public Schools and at the age of 17 enlisted in the United States Navy. Shortly after discharge from the Navy, Danny met and married Linda Robinson. This union produced three children: daughters Christina and Candice and son, Daniel.

Danny spent a significant portion of his professional life working for the government as an employee of the DCSC. After an unexpected closure of his division, he held a range of positions using his varied skill sets.

During his youth, Danny developed a passion for music. He was a self-taught bass player, heavily influenced by guitarist Jimi Hendrix and bassists Stanley Clarke and Larry Graham. With his keen sense of rhythm and amazing musical skill, he became a professional bass player. He was a prolific songwriter, performed in various bands, and contributed to the songs of many others. He was also adept at both guitar and keys.

In addition to music, Danny became an excellent bowler, was an avid Notre Dame and New York Giants fan, and loved reading. He was also one of the best storytellers ever. He told stories with a unique and humorous twist that left the listener laughing and wondering if that’s how it really occurred or laughing all while knowing it didn’t happen that way at all! There was not a better storyteller than Danny, but his son DJ is a close second.

Of all the things that Danny loved, there is no question that his strongest love was for his family. Danny had a deep love and dedication to his family and was very close and protective of them all.

Danny was authentically himself through the end, even wearing sunglasses and a hat while at the hospital. If you knew Danny you know THAT was Danny. He will be truly missed.

Danny leaves to mourn his death, his children; Christina “Punkin” Boelter, Candice "Scoop" Boelter (Derek) and Daniel “D-Boy” Boelter II; grandkids Asa "Little Pistol" Tyler and Mathai "Little" Jordan and great-grandaughter Ariyah "Baby Yah" Tyler; significant other Sylvia “Sybil” Matthews; siblings Ginger “Lil Mom” Parks, Pam “Cobbler” Hatchett (Larry) and Toni “Shuggy Otis” Boelter; step-mother Cozetta Huff, lifetime friends Robert “Uncle Jack" Jackson, Steve King, and Harvey Smoke, in addition to a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whom he loved and adored very much. Preceded in death by his father John Huff, his mother Lorraine “Penguin” Boelter, and his brother Larry “Big Bruh” Parks.
