Surrounded by his loved ones, Daniel P. Forsythe, 78, of Scott Depot, WV passed away on February 28, 2024. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Daniel, born in Pittsburgh on April 24th, 1945, was the oldest son of the late Harry and Patricia Forsythe. He pursued his passion for engineering, earning a bachelor's degree from The University of Toledo and forging a career as a structural engineer. It was during his tenure at McGraw Construction that he crossed paths with the love of his life, Fern Medley-Forsythe, and they embarked on a journey of love and partnership, enduring until Fern's passing in 2019.
Dan was renowned for his quick wit, a trait that endeared him to all who knew him. His zest for life manifested in various pursuits - from obtaining his single-engine pilot's license to devoting countless hours to Habitat for Humanity. He found solace and joy in woodworking, creating intricate stained-glass pieces, and nurturing his beloved garden each summer.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Daniel P. Forsythe Jr. (Jennifer), daughter Michelle Corbett, stepchildren Joseph N. Elam and Katie Elam, grandchildren Ryan Forsythe, Felicity Elam, and Marlon Goldman Jr., as well as his siblings Diana Forsythe, Douglas (Barbara) Forsythe, Dale (Noreen) Forsythe, and Donna Forsythe (Omar Al-Salehi), along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Scanlon.
A memorial service honoring Dan's life will take place at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Sewickley, PA 15143 on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 am. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Habitat for Humanity or the First Baptist Church of Hurricane, W.V., organizations close to Dan's heart.
The Forsythe family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio, for their exceptional care and support during our father's final days.
