Daniel Charles Hite

October 27, 1944 — July 4, 2021

Daniel Charles Hite died on July 4th, 2021 while in the hospital in Columbus, Ohio after battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years.

Loving memories of him are cherished by his two children, Mary Elizabeth Maenle and Robert Thomas Hite, his son-in-law, Garrick Lawrence Maenle, his two grandchildren Zoe Grace and Hayley Evelyn Maenle, his older brother George Hite, extended family and dear friends.

His dearest wife of 50 years, Mary Ruth Hite, died two days prior on July 2nd, 2021 while at home.

He was born in The Plains, Ohio on October 27th, 1944 and lovingly raised by his parents Robert Eugene Hite and Ruth A. Bickley.

Dan served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1970. It was during his time in the Navy that he met his soon-to-be wife, Mary, through mutual friends. They married in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and then moved to Ohio to raise a family. He completed his Bachelor of Science, Marketing degree at The Ohio State University in 1972.

He worked in the restaurant industry for many years, and retired from working at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was a die hard Cleveland Browns fan who loved to read westerns, write, and watch movies. Through the years, he had gathered a very extensive movie collection, especially anything that starred Clint Eastwood. He was very fond of activities such as hiking, fishing, picnics, and trips to historical sites with his family.

A private ceremony will take place for his family, to be followed by a celebration of life in the future.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National MS Society, www.nationalmssociety.org.
