Daniel J. Stewart, 40, of Madison WI, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 3, 2008, at his home. Dan was born on May 23, 1968, in Toledo, Ohio, and was the son of Lauren (Larry) and Deborah (Mitchka) Stewart. Dan was awarded the Masters of Fine Arts (Poetry), with honors, from The Ohio State University. He continued in his love of poetry and shared his passion for the fine arts with his children. He was an accomplished photographer, a keen chess player, a great parent as a tender and loving father. Dan was an active supporter of many community organizations most notably the Madison Ballet; Madison Country Day School, serving as the Board Chair; Madison Children's Museum; RSVP Madison; Planned Parenthood of Michigan; NARAL Ohio; and the Columbus Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Most recently, he was Chief Executive Officer of Stewart Security, Inc. (Worthington, Ohio). Dan is survived by Jon, Erik, and Laura, his children with Katharina S. (Sprinkel) Stewart; his parents, Lauren (Larry) and Deborah Stewart of Westerville, Ohio; his sister, Rachel St. John, of Columbus, Ohio; and his nephews, Mackenzie, Joel and David Alexander; niece, Sarah Stokes; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ceila Mitchka; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roger and Lois Brandle. A Memorial Service for Daniel will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, August 16, 2008, Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road Columbus OH. with visitation at 2:00 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, OH, in Dan's honor.
