Daniel Lewis Shook, 86, of Washington Court House, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He passed away peacefully with his wife, Chris and niece, Lori by his side. He was born on November 16, 1937 in Lockbourne, Ohio to the late Edward and Myrtle (Sowers) Shook.
Daniel was formally from Mt. Sterling and Ravenna, Ohio. He worked many years and retired from the state of Ohio Department of Natural Resources. After his retirement, Daniel moved to Mt. Sterling to be closer to his brother (Ed) and Sister (Marie), this is where he fell in love with the love of his life, Chris Shade and they were married on February 15, 2008. Daniel was a member of the Mt. Sterling Church of Christ in Christian Union until his health started failing. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, and brother-in-law.
He had various interests such as taking long rides, fishing, boating, and walking, but most of all he loved spending his time with his family, his loving wife and their fur babies Smokey and Tommy. Daniel was the 7th child of 8; he was born and raised on the family farm.
He is survived by his care giver and loving wife Chris (Shade) Shook, of WCHO, his baby sister Elsie Sheets of Marysville. Special nieces: Janice (John) Seymore of Ashville and Lori (Kevin) Bowsher of Mt. Sterling and sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Dee (Jim) Cunningham, of Canal Winchester and Brenda (Grier) Hobbs of Statesville, North Carolina. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers: Frank Shook, Floyd (Lizzie) Shook, Edward (Ruth) Shook and 3 sisters: Helen Shook, Betty Lindsey, and Marie (Floyd) Gaines.
Daniel will be remembered for his warm heart, his unwavering kindness, and his infectious smile.
The family will accept friends & family at the Newcomer Southwest Chapel at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am. Interment to follow at Pleasant Cemetery at 14220 Era Road, Mount Sterling, Ohio 43143.
