Daniel Ray Whittaker, affectionately known as Danny, passed away on December 19, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. Born on June 22, 1950, in Princeton, West Virginia, Danny was a beacon of joy to all who knew him.
Danny was known for his infectious sense of humor; he was a true jokester who brightened the lives of those around him. His caring nature was evident in the way he always sought to help others, offering great advice and support to anyone in need. A selfless spirit, he took genuine pleasure in seeing others succeed, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with enthusiasm and confidence.
Danny's passions included hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and create treasured memories. He particularly cherished the time spent with his girlfriend, Linda Thacker, finding joy and companionship in their relationship.
He is survived by his loving family, which includes his devoted daughter, Rebecca Thomas; son, Daniel Ray Whittaker, II; daughter, Angel Herren; and his grandchildren, Brittany, Kassie, Jamie, Stephanie, Daisy, Heather, and Courtney. He also leaves behind his son, Hershel (Chelsey) Thacker, III; brother-in-law, John (Marcella) Messer, Sr.; and son-in-law, Mike Young. Danny's love extended further to his sisters, Carol Damron and Kathy Whittaker, and his brother, Jerry Whittaker, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many many friends who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Bud Evans; mother, Aquilla Joyce Evans; beloved daughter, Treva Lynn Richards; and his son, Sonny Whittaker. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
Visitation will be held on December 29, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway in Grove City, Ohio.
Danny's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known him. His laughter and love will be deeply missed but eternally remembered.
