David M. Armstrong, 78, of Grove City, Ohio passed away August 17, 2022. He was born June 24, 1944 in
Columbus, Ohio to parents Floyd James and Ruth Ethel (Johnson) Armstrong.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over forty years Sandy (Stewart), infant siblings Mary
Catherine and Phillip Armstrong, sister Phyllis White, and brothers Paul and Darrell Armstrong. His spirit
is carried on by children, Amy (Don) Sorg and David S. Armstrong; grandchildren, Veronica and William
Sorg; many nieces, nephews, friends from every walk of life; and devoted friend Carolyn Smith.
David was a veteran of the US Army and was deployed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a
long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grove City, serving over the years as a trustee
and treasurer.
David's career included over 30 years as an electrical engineer, specializing in communications at Ohio
Bell. After retiring, he kept busy working and volunteering and especially enjoyed his years at Homes on
the Hill, a non-profit providing affordable housing in local neighborhoods.
Known for his kindness and humor, David always had a joke ready and could brighten anyone's day. He
also loved sports and competition. He was an avid fan of the Buckeyes, enjoyed playing golf and croquet,
and coaching youth sports. Most of all, David loved spending time with his grandchildren and cheering
them on in their various activities.
While our world certainly shines a little less bright without his smile to light it, we take comfort knowing
that he is in peace with God, and that he will live on in the hearts and memories of all those whose lives
he touched.
