David Alfred Bryant Jr

June 21, 1949 — April 17, 2024

Surrounded by his loving family, David A. Bryant Jr. of Mt Sterling, Ohio passed away after a twenty-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024. David was born June 21st, 1949 in Tampa, Florida to Eunice and David A. Bryant Sr. He moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1957, and is a 1967 graduate of Columbus North HS. He served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973, being stationed in Germany and Alaska. In 1980 he graduated from The Ohio State University and earned his Professional Engineering License in 1982. He worked as an Engineer with many companies spanning from North Carolina to Illinois until his retirement in 2020.
Dave enjoyed many hobbies including working on race cars, carpentry, woodworking, and working on his pool & hot tub. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Pongonis), whom he married on October 31st, 1981. In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his daughter Kelly Mescher (Tom), granddaughters Elise Light-Mescher, Isis Robison (Anthony), grandson Ares, great-grandson Roman Robison, brothers Terry(Nancy) and Dwain(Paula Hardy), brother-in-law Dr. Raymond Pongonis (Marilyn), sisters-in-law Malinda Bryant and Teri Bryant, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father David A. Bryant Sr., mother Eunice Bryant, brothers Robert “Jimmy”, and Richard “Ric”, mother-in-law Rita Pongonis, father-in-law Raymond Pongonis, and brother-in-law Tom Pongonis. As per his request, there will be no funeral service for David. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Donations can be made in David’s memory to Bishop Watterson High School (The Pongonis Family Scholarship Fund), 99 E. Cooke Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43214.
