David Lee Hays passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2012. He was the son of the late Charles W. and Ruby M. Hays of Hamilton, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by his brother, C. Richard.
He is survived by sons David Wesley (Joann Bury) Hays and Thomas (Hayley) Hays; grandchildren Chelsea, Hayden, Lauren and Nate Hays; Sisters Barbara (John) McCall and Lynne Hays; Brother Jim (Peggy) Hays; Sister-in-Law Betty Hays Forsyth; beloved friend Cinnie Duff; and numerous nieces, nephews & friends.
David was born in Hamilton, Ohio May 28th, 1939. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1962 with a Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture. Successfully passing the LA Board Examinations, he became a Registered Landscape Architect in 1966. His practice covered projects in Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Texas. Among his many accomplishments were the design and development of Antrim Park, First Community Village, and the Wexner Heritage House, all located in Columbus, Ohio, and the Maple Knoll Retirement Village, in Cincinnati. His military service included several years in the United States Army Reserve, with an Honorable Discharge in 1968.
He was a Member of Worthington Christian Church and the University Lodge No. 631 F&AM.
Visitation will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231 from 5-7pm on March 23rd, 2012 with a Masonic service to follow. A Memorial service will be held Saturday at Worthington Christian Church, 8145 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43235 on March 24, 2012 at 1:00pm.
