David Alan Karnes, known affectionately as Dave, was born on July 5, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on October 26 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
Dave devoted over 25 years of his life to his career as a master electrician with Electric Service Professionals, where his commitment and expertise made a lasting impact. He was not just a hard worker; he was dedicated to his craft, embodying the principles of diligence and integrity that defined his professional journey. Those who had the pleasure of working with him knew he was someone they could rely on, often finding joy in the challenges that his work presented.
Outside of his career, Dave had a passion for the great outdoors, with a particular fondness for camping, especially during the Halloween season. He shared this love with his beloved miniature pincher, Minnie, who was truly his #1 girl. Their adventures together were a testament to his appreciation for both nature and the companionship of pets.
Dave's personality was as vibrant as the seasons he loved. While he could be a bit stubborn at times, it was a charming quality that endeared him to his family and friends. Above all, he was a family man who took immense pride in his roles as a father and grandfather. He often expressed how proud he was of his children and grandchildren, with the special joy he found in winning the Halloween contest at Deer Creek State Park becoming a delightful yearly tradition.
He is survived by his devoted family, including his children, Joseph Karnes, Samantha (Adam) Slater, Dawn Karnes, and David Karnes, Jr.; his lifetime partner, Sandy Karnes; and his grandchildren, Jacob Slater, Henry Slater, Christian Czigans, Kyle Powell, Kristina Powell, and Dylan Czigans. Additionally, he is remembered by his siblings: brother, James (Pam) Karnes; and sisters, Cathy and Diane, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, James Karnes, and mother, Jessie Mae Wallace, who provided the love and guidance that shaped him into the remarkable person he became.
A viewing to honor Dave’s life will be held on November 2, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest in Grove City, Ohio. As we remember and celebrate Dave, we find comfort in the memories shared and the love that will endure through the generations he leaves behind.
