David E. Schlaegel, 88, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. He was born March 1, 1920, in LeSage, WV. David retired from Continental Can (Federal Paperboard/Glass) and Groveport Madison Middle School. Mr. Schlaegel is preceded in death by parents, George and Golda; brothers, Ira, Roscoe, Dorsey; sister, Juanita Schlaegel; wife, Odra (Audrey) Schlaegel. Survivors include his brother, Luther (Ilene) Schlaegel; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, September, 5, 2008, 6-8PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Saturday, September 6, 2008, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Obetz Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the American Cancer Society.
