Debra Davis, 56, of Blacklick, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at O.S.U. Medical Center after a brave battle against cancer. She was born February 23, 1955, in Newark, OH. Debra was a 1973 graduate of Newark High School, 1977 graduate of Muskingum University and a 1979 graduate of Indiana University. She taught in the math department at Dennison University for four years before working for the State of Ohio as a Senior IT Risk Management Consultant in the Ohio Office of Information Technology for the Department of Administrative Services. Debra was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Gutridge. She is survived by her husband, Phil Davis; mother, Mary "Pat" Carson Gutridge; brothers-in-law, Jeff Davis and Michael Vreeland of Arlington, Virginia and Ralph (Jeanene) Davis of Olive Branch, Mississippi and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, with the memorial service beginning at 6:00 PM. Debra was a wonderful, caring person that had a heart of gold. She was a loving wife and the light of her parents' life. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
