Debra Ryan

Debra Lynne Ryan, age 62, gained her angel's wings on October 4, 2021 with her children at her side. She fought a courageous battle the past 7 months following complications from open heart surgery and a diagnosis of small cell carcinoma lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents; Richard Finley and Dorothy Sharlene Thayer; sister Freda Thayer; and granddaughter Faith White.

Debra was born in Columbus, Ohio but raised in Salyersville, Kentucky. Though she eventually settled in central Ohio, a piece of her heart remained in the hills of Kentucky. She worked various jobs including C.S.D Express, Inc. where she did accounting for the company for over 15 years. No matter the job she gave her all and taught her children the value of hard work.

Her greatest roles were mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She treasured every moment with her family, especially her three grandchildren. She passed on her love of the Kentucky Wildcats to her grandsons. She had a knack for making everything more fun, loved to laugh, and loved to scare her kids and their friends! Deb never met a stranger and made everyone she met feel special.

She will be sorely missed and is survived by her sister Linda Thayer, brother Darryl Thayer, daughter Jessica (Trevor) White, son Grant (Mandy) Thayer, grandchildren Luke, Landon, and Olivia White, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephew, cousins, and friends.

All whom loved her dearly will remember her kindness, generosity, strength, and humor.

Friends may call at the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Grove City Cemetery.
