Debra Kay Wright was born on January 11, 1968, in Fremont, Ohio. When she was 11 years old, she moved with her family to Columbus which became her long-time home. Deb passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Deb enjoyed many interests. She graduated from Upper Arlington High School attended Ohio University and graduated from Columbus State. Following graduation, she pursued a career as an architectural drafts person and amongst other projects, she drew multiple plans for her parents' home. She was a licensed general contractor and displayed those talents in a beautiful total house remodeling project.
As a licensed massage therapist, Deb had a passion for helping others. She was artistic and many of her cherished works of art are displayed in the homes of family and friends. She loved her cats. There was a beloved cat or two in her home for as long as family can remember and they always had unique names like Izzy and Bella. Deb was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, Beverly Hanson Wright and by her aunt, Gloria Foster. She is survived by her father, Paul (Sue) Wright; brother, David (Julie); niece, Sydney; nephews, Noah, Max; uncle, Elmer (Sue); cousins, Todd (Michelle), Susan (Gary) Jeandron, Beth (Dan) Landsberg and their families, Jeannine (Ken) Vaughn and their children, John and Jennifer, "Deb's sister at heart", Susan Mather, Karen Blackburn; nieces, Karen Pierce, Kathy Swyers, Kenny (Pat) Ward and their families; along with numerous other cousins of Beverly Wright. Deb's family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the very professional care provided to Deb by the staff at Riverside Hospital. We are grateful for you.
There will be a Celebration of Life service held at Northwest United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Deb's honor to either The Leadership or The Chapel in the Woods Legacy Fund at Northwest United Methodist Church at 5200 Riverside Drive, Columbus 43220. Deb was instrumental in the recent renovation of The Chapel in the Woods. And, The Leadership Fund was established in honor of Deb's mother (and others) and provides scholarships for youth from the church going on mission trips. Both causes were dear to Deb's heart. Or, donations may be made to the Columbus Humane Society in recognition of Deb's love of cats.
