Delbert Kenneth Tanner

November 4, 1940 — September 28, 2021

Delbert Kenneth Tanner ended his seasons on Earth following an extended illness on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2:27 P.M. at Wexner Heritage Village in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born on November 4, 1940 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late George and Loretha Tanner. Delbert graduated from Jackson High School and was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marines. After 38 years of service, he retired from the United States Postal Service.
On September 25, 1965, Delbert was united in holy matrimony to Jewell E. (Valentine) Tanner, also known as "Judy". They were blessed with 56 loving years of marriage and two wonderful sons.
Delbert had known about and believed in God for a very long time, however, he had not made a public confession of faith until earlier this year when he decided to accept Christ as his personal Savior.
Loving his family dearly, Delbert was a great husband, wonderful father, and an awesome grandfather. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren...he loved them to life. He savored Tim Hortons coffee so much that he and his brother, Buford, would make 2-3 trips there every day. Was the coffee that good, or was this just a way to spend time with his brother?
In his free time, Delbert enjoyed watching sports. He was an avid football fan of Ohio State and rooted for the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. He loved playing cards, working outside, and helping wherever he could.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jonas Tanner, Herman Tanner, Dorsey Tanner, and Buford Tanner; and two sisters, Blanche Stroud and Bonadean Davis.
Left to cherish the memory of Delbert's life are his loving and devoted wife, Jewell (aka "Judy"); two sons, Stacey Tanner of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Darren (Sharon) Tanner of Missouri City, Texas; two brothers, Hartsel (Donna) Tanner of Chillicothe, Ohio and Robert (Nancy) Tanner of Clarksburg, Ohio; two sisters, Janet Cosby of Chillicothe, Ohio and LeeAnn Ruck of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Latia Tanner, Lamar Tanner, Jayden Tanner, Georgia Grace "Gigi" Tanner, and Mariah Hollett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and very special friend, Art Gladen.

"A precious one from us is gone; a voice we loved is stilled.
A place is vacant in our hearts, which never can be filled.
Although a lonely heartache, and many a sorrowful tear;
There's always a beautiful memory of one we love so dear."
