Delora (Missy) Kitchen Stewart loved her family, being a grandma and football. Spotting bald eagles, traveling to the American West and herbal recreation were some of her favorite activities. During fall weekends Missy would be found cheering for the Buckeyes, yelling at the Browns and probably slipping over to Hollywood Casino to ravage the slot machines. Recently, Missy fought cancer fiercely while remaining full of love and humor until the end of her precious life.
Missy was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Demint, her father, Tommie Kitchen and her brother Danny Kitchen, and every losing season by the Cleveland Browns during her lifetime.
Missy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, John Stewart, her daughter Melissa (Jeff) Terry and her four children Cole, Cooper, Broc and Camellia. Missy's surviving father is Danny Demint. Her surviving siblings and best friends are Don (Jan) Kitchen, Diana (Dave) Robison, Pete Kitchen, Dennis Kitchen and Deby (Mark) Klein. Missy always had a close relationship with her nieces and nephews, Michelle, Wayne, Tommie and David, as well as many great nieces and nephews, cousins and family in both Ohio and Kentucky.
Missy's end of life care was provided by Kindred Hospice who were so kind, compassionate, and helpful. They made the hard days lighter and celebrated the good days with us too. Big shout (and hug!) to Nurse Gina.
A memorial gathering will take place Thursday, November 4th from 5-7 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, a not-for-profit attraction where Missy spent countless hours enjoying the wildlife with her family.
