BLACKBURN
Denver L. Blackburn, 80, of Westerville and formerly of Wheelersburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Born to the late Melvin and Pansy (Scott) Blackburn in Portsmouth, OH on February 5, 1928, Denver was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Sue Blackburn and step-father, Homer Bruce. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife Margaret (Plummer) Blackburn; daughter, Julie (Tim) Hoover; son, Mark (Janet) Blackburn; brother, Randy (Carol) Blackburn; grandchildren, Megan and Brooke Hoover, Brian (Lori), Jeffrey (Jodie) and David (Janel) Blackburn; great-grandchildren; Olivia, Elizabeth, Luke, Brianna, Gilchrist, Maxton, Norah, Abigail, Eoin and Finnigan; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Denver graduated from Portsmouth East High, attended Portsmouth Business College, Ohio University and Tri-State Bible College where he later served on the Tri State College Board. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1946-1947. Denver was a member of Berean Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served and taught in various roles. Denver was founder and President of Blackburn Insurance Agency Inc for 42 years. Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2008, 3-6 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, October 6, 2008, 12:00 noon at Berean Baptist Church, 5526 Winchester Avenue, Sciotoville, OH with visitation from 10:00 - 12:00 noon at the Church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, OH. Memorial contributions in Denver's name may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation, PO Box 16810, Columbus, OH 43272.
