He was a long time Elder of Rhema Christian Center where he served in the ministry in several ways. He was overseer of the Outreach Ministry there and also established The School of Inner Healing. He later went on to establish and pastor, The Comforters House Ministry; it was an inner-city ministry aimed at outreach, evangelism, and winning souls to Christ in an impoverished, and deflating community on the city's East Side.
In January 1993, Dexter was awarded the Martin Luther King Jr. Award from the Columbus Education Association. This award highlighted his vision in the Windsor Terrace Neighborhood, where he worked with youth and adults, to improve education, economics, faith, and to encourage racial reconciliation within the community.
Dexter built his life around faith and family. He ministered close to home, and abroad, and won many souls to Christ. Dexter ministered through sickness and health, and up until Dementia entered his body and he was no longer able to do so. Dexter was a dedicated, loving, Father and Husband. Dexter was a fisher of men, a Man of God, and a visionary. He was a devoted leader, a faithful follower and friend. He was dynamic in this world and he will be missed.
