Dianthia (Brown) Lowry, age 68, passed away at The Kobacker House, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
She was born on May 28, 1953 in Columbus, OH to Edward and Lenora (Shepard) Brown.
On October 14, 1980, Dianthia married Walter M. Lowry, and together they had three children.
She was avid educator and mental health professional who attended Capital University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Community Mental Health in 1990, and later attended Ashland Theological Seminary, where she graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Pastoral Counseling in December of 2000.
Dianthia carried an extensive career as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, which included work within her own private practice (Christian Counseling and Educational Services), as well as the Dean of Community Relations (The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University), Clinical Counselor (Central Ohio Youth for Christ/WellSpring Counseling), Mental Health Consultant (Action for Children), Adjunct Faculty (Wilmington College) and a Clinician (St. Vincent Family Centers), among other local agencies.
Dianthia was exceedingly talented in the creative arts, and spent her free time enjoying sewing, musical, artistic and culinary events/activities. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lenora Brown, brother Larry Nelson, sister Lisa Brown, and her husband, Walter M. Lowry (1952-2017).
She is survived by her children; daughters Alicia Smith and Michelle (Justin) Lowry-Johnson; son Walter M. (Patrellia) Lowry II; grand-daughters, Zoe Smith (6), Diane Lowry (4), Brielle Smith (3) and Isabelle Lowry (2); siblings Joyce (Samuel) Webster, Theresa (Earl) Foxworth, Edward Brown, Jr., Athena Brown Curry, Lester (Laura) Brown, Anthony Brown, Timothy (Yvette) Brown; special friend Debbie (Carl) Shye; and a host of close nieces/nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00AM at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, Inc. located at 870 St. Clair Ave, Columbus, OH 43201. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, 8029 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. The family will receive friends at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, Inc. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 10:00AM until the time of service.
