Dixie Lee Sturm

Dixie Lee Sturm, age 83, of Johnstown, Ohio passed away February 18, 2023 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (Hospice of Central Ohio) with family.

She was born in Alliance, Ohio on October 30, 1939 to the late Arthur and Gladys (Barkdoll) Rosenberger.

A graduate of Alliance High School Class of 1957. Upon graduation, Dixie became a beautician and married Kenneth Hays in 1959. Dixie was a devoted mother/homemaker to their three children. After raising her family, Dixie worked for K-Mart as a buyer and retired in 1998. Lastly, later in life she enjoyed being an instructor for Curves.

Dixie most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved being "Granny" or "Granny Good Witch", spending holidays with family, gathering with friends, and traveling to North Carolina/Maryland. Hobbies included crocheting, crossword puzzles, coloring, and playing games. Other interests included guns and the shooting range. Dixie was a devout Christian and member of Clover Valley Chapel in Johnstown, Ohio.

Surviving family includes her loving husband of 32 years Ronald Sturm; children, Michelle (Kevin) Rooney, Kendra Reiss and Mike (Jackie) Hays; grandchildren, Kevin Rooney, Jr., Becky Rooney, Nate Hays, Austin Hays and Tyler Hays; great grandchildren, Izzy Rooney and Liam Rooney; as well as beloved nieces, cousins, and dear friends.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Gladys Rosenberger; brother, Rollie (Elsie) Rosenberger; and, son in law, Steve Reiss.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for service and celebration of life, which will be held at Clover Valley Chapel (5669 Clover Valley Road., Johnstown, OH) on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 12:00 pm.
