Donald Joseph Huntzinger Jr. ,67, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Village at Westerville Nursing Center in Westerville, OH, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on October 10, 1941 in Columbus, OH. Donald grew up in Columbus, OH. He attended St. Augustine's and St. Patrick's Catholic grade schools. He was a graduate of Aquinas High School, where he played football and baseball. Donald also attended The Ohio State University. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force and spent time in AZ, TX and CA. After his military service ended, he moved back to Columbus, OH, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Janet. They were married for 42 years upon his passing. Donald began his professional career working for Coca-Cola bottling in Columbus, OH. He later took a sales position for Economics Laboratories and then moved to Indianapolis, IN. Shortly after moving to Indianapolis, he owned and operated Circle Coin and Stamp Shop and served the Indianapolis and Carmel communities for 16 years. He resided in Carmel, IN with his wife and four children for nearly 20 years before moving back to Westerville, OH. Donald had a love for life and enjoyed many interests and hobbies including rocks, minerals, fossils, coins, stamps, sports memorabilia and other collectibles. Donald also had a love of animals and the martial arts, in which he received his black belt in Okinawan style karate. A loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, Donald will be missed by the many lives he touched. He is survived by his wife Janet Lee; sons, Donald (Suzanne) and Joseph (Emily) Huntzinger of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Jennifer (Ray) Kovach of Cave Creek, AZ and Lauren Huntzinger of Mesa, AZ; granddaughter, Lindsey Huntzinger of Indianapolis, IN; mother, Pauline Huntzinger of Columbus, OH; brothers, Edgar (Carol) Huntzinger of Sunbury, OH and Nicholas (Bonnie) Huntzinger of Westerville, OH. Visitation, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 5:30 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 6:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donald's name may be made to the James Cancer Center in Columbus, OH.
