Donald L. Thompson, 87, of Columbus, OH, died March 6, 2011 at Scioto Retirement Community. Mr. Thompson was born September 13, 1923, in Columbus, OH to Lucille and Donald Thompson. Mr. Thompson served in the United States Army during WWII in the Tank Crop. He was a longtime Service Officer for the American Legion Post 119 in Largo, FL, and helped hundreds of veterans and there families get veterans benefits. He is survived by his daughter, Donna L. (James) Miller of Grove City, OH, and was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Virginia Thompson of Largo, FL. A memorial service will be held this Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Community of Christ Church, 1255 Stringtown Rd., Grove City, OH 43123. Memorial donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 2831 Prospect Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115-2606.
