Donald William Ragland

Donald W. Ragland, age 80, of Columbus, Ohio died June 16, 2023 at his home following an extended illness.

On January 6, 1943, he was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of the late Kenneth and Eleanor (Hitchens) Ragland. On October 5, 1968, he married Esther Maria (Hughes) Ragland at Bethel AME Church. Together they shared 54 years of marriage.

Survivors include wife, Maria; children, Mark (Rhonda) Ragland, Tiffany Ragland, Summer (Jermaine) Henson, Chase (Kia) Ragland; brothers, Tim (Saundra) Ragland, Steve Ragland; sisters, Kay Ragland, Mary Holman and Sherrie Rivers.

He was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Eleanor Ragland, and sister, JoAnn (Ragland) Wall.

Don served five years in the United States Navy and worked at General Motors for 37 years. Don was an avid fisherman who would spend weeks at a time at Lake Erie. He loved boating, fishing and teaching aviation and flying. Don enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and taking cruises with his wife and family.

Don was a member of Love Zion Baptist Church for 21 years and a deacon for 17 years.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Love Zion Baptist Church, 1459 Madison Avenue, Columbus, Ohio, 43205 with a funeral service immediately following at 10:00 am also at Love Zion Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, 643 Eastern Avenue, Chillicothe, Ohio, 45601.
