Donald Ray Tincher

Donald Ray (Donnie) Tincher, beloved husband, loving father and pawpaw, age 66, of Lewis Center, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26. 2022 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville, Ohio, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.
Don was born in June of 1956 at Doctor's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, the only "Buckeye" in the family, to Conley and Lura Tincher. He was a "lifer" at Olentangy Local High School in Lewis Center, Ohio, where he graduated in 1974. He remained lifelong friends with many of his classmates. He worked hard at various trades for over 50 years. His working years started in high school learning the construction and building trade with Russ White of Galena, Ohio. Russ taught him to be detail oriented which stayed with Don his entire life. After high school, he began to learn the trade of auto body repair to which he worked for twenty years at various dealerships and body shops including Lane & Kenny Body Shop on The OSU campus where he was first tagged with the nicknames "Dirt", "Dirtball", and "Dirty Boy" because of his unique ability to be covered from head to toe at the end of the day in body dust. He also worked at Ernest White Ford in Delaware, Ohio. He said Mr. White was the best boss he ever had. He spent 10 years off and on with Dick Ruhl Ford in Columbus, Ohio at their body shop which was eventually located in Powell, Ohio. Last but not least he went to work with Paul Yoakum at his shop in Delaware, Ohio. That was the happiest place he ever worked. Don & Paul could practically finish each other's sentences with the humor non-stop. It was while Don started looking for a place to start another body shop that he came across the property where he eventually started his last trade working in the marine industry and became known as the "Boat Guy". He had his small business, Old State Dry Dock, where he stored, winterized and shrink wrapped boats for his loyal customers for 25 years.
He retired and sold the property in 2019. After retiring, he continued with his side hustles of buying and selling boats, tractors and farm equipment. He enjoyed immensely "buying junk and selling antiques" which he did for over 20 years. "Buy the best & sell the rest" was his motto. He was quite the cook, known for his famous lasagna and delicious soups. He was also the "Hostess with the Mostest" as he hosted Thanksgiving dinners for 20 or more people for 25 years. He happily roasted the turkey, baked the ham and stirred the gravy.
He felt complete joy in the many, many hours he spent with his granddaughters. His love and care for them helped to complete his life. Of course, he loved fast cars, fast boats and English motorcycles.
He is survived by the love of his life, Jalana (Partlow) Tincher. They were married on December 18, 1976, just shy of 46 years. His two adult children, David B. Tincher (Lori Franklin) and Katie L. Walker (Andrew); grandchildren, Alana and Addilyn Walker, Kyleeann and Autumn Engle; aunt and uncle, Carol (Robert) Sizemore of Manassas,Virginia; great-aunt, Mary Allen of Jefferson, Maryland; much loved niece, Holly Tincher; parents-in-law, Donald (Joy) Partlow of Delaware, Ohio; favorite cousin, JoAnn (Woody) Davis of Belpre, Ohio; numerous other wonderful cousins, in-laws and friends.
Preceded in death by his dear mother, Lura Jean Tincher; brothers, Karrdavid (Dave) and Randy Tincher; father, Conley Tincher (Ewing); uncle, Harold(Judy) Harvey of Manassas, VA. .
He wanted to acknowledge his appreciation and respect for the many doctors and nurses who cared and treated him throughout his lifetime, especially Karen Barnhart, LNP, whom he lovingly called "Special K" of Lower Lights Christian Health Center, his cardiologist of over 20 years, Dr. Judson Millhon, his oncologist, Dr. Erin Macrae and nurse Denise of Columbus Oncology and Hematology Associates.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, December 16, 2022 from 1-4 pm at Water's Edge Sports Bar, 5192 Cheshire Rd, Galena, Ohio, 43021. Those who cannot attend are encouraged to send pictures, videos, stories, poetry or bible verses to kwalk1331@gmail.com and they will be added into the program. We plan to celebrate "Donnie style", so please feel free to wear plaid, Hawaiian shirts, or whatever is comfortable. A private interment at Blendon Central Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to LLCHC.org in honor of Donald R. Tincher.
