In Loving Memory of Doris J. (Scarberry) Moore
1934-2021
Doris Jean (Scarberry) Moore, 87, of Galloway, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on October 5, 2021. Doris was born on December 19, 1934 in Charlie, Kentucky to the late Jay and Opal (Hinkel) Scarberry.
She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1954 and married her sweetheart, Lloyd, on Valentine's Day of 1954. Paving the way for women in the workforce, Doris worked full time while raising a family during the 1950s and 60s. She retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in 1990 after 36 years of service.
Doris was a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution, Louisa, Kentucky chapters. She was an incredibly talented seamstress and artist, and loved sharing her talents with her daughter and granddaughters. Doris enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and painting, and she could usually be found at JoAnn Fabrics until closing time. She was a collector of many things with an entrepreneurial spirit, and was always on the hunt for a good yard sale. In the past year, Doris enjoyed seeing pictures of her great granddaughter, Amelia Jean, and was tickled to have passed on her red hair and blue eyes to her first great granddaughter. Doris will be remembered for her sense of humor, her witty comebacks, and her love of pranks.
Doris was preceded in death by her four brothers: James, Robert, Donald Ray, and Fred Leon Scarberry and her sister, Janie (Scarberry) Hayes. Doris was survived in death by her husband, Lloyd Licco Moore, who passed away peacefully 26 days later on October 30, 2021. Doris will be missed by her children, Lloyd Licco Moore Jr., and Saundra Lynn (Moore) Chapman; her grandchildren, Jeanine (Jeremiah) Feltner and Jillian Chapman; and great granddaughter, Amelia Jean Feltner.
A private burial was held at the Galloway Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
