Dorothy May Davenport, 96, passed away on September 19, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of prayer with a dear friend by her side. She was born in Greenfield, Ohio on November 8, 1927 to Glenn and Lina (Van Ness) Wise.
Dorothy is survived by her children Dixie Hammond, Deborah (Bob) Dell, Dan (Nina) Davenport, Dona (Tim) Barnett, David Davenport, Douglas Davenport, Darrin (Lia) Davenport, and Dana (David) Gingrich, 25 of her grandchildren, 42 of her great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law David Hammond, grandchildren Jessica Davenport and Zachary Barnett, and her great grandchild John Hammond.
Dorothy’s life was characterized by her unwavering faith and commitment to prayer. Her strong relationship with Jesus was her foundation. She loved to read about historical events and her Christian faith. She was also an accomplished seamstress and loved gardening, as well as taking care of her home.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at Newcomer Northwest Chapel in Powell, Ohio on October 5 at 10:00 followed by a short graveside service at Africa Cemetery.

Dorothy will be deeply missed, and her prayers will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family.
