Dorothy A. Weate
January 25, 1929 — February 15, 2023
Dorothy (Dottie) Weate, 94 of Columbus, went to be with her Lord on February 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 25, 1929 to the late Maxwell and Anna (Kruse) Eichner in Columbus, OH.
Dorothy's life reflected her strong Catholic faith. As a young adult she cared for children at the St. Vincents Orphanage. She would work for Columbus Southern Electric until meeting her husband in which she then became a dispatch operator for Mifflin Township Volunteer Fire Department. Countless volunteer hours were given to St. Cecilia school and church.
Dorothy devoted her life to being a dedicated, caring and loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
Proceeded in death by her loving husband Clifford Weate, son Michael Weate, granddaughter Mia Farrell, sisters Betty, Mary, Maxine and Jean, brothers Paul and John Leo.
Survived by children Steve (Kirsten Lehtoma) Weate, Gina (Keith) Farrell, Mark (Lisa) Weate, Patrick (Brenda) Weate and Margaret "Peggy" (David) Alexander, 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister Ruth.
Friends and family may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 3pm to 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 434 Norton Road, Columbus, OH 43228.
Final resting place will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery, 580 Raymond Road, Marysville, OH 43040.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dorothy's favorite charities, St. Jude Childrens Hospital and Convenant House.
