Dorothy Titus Wilson

September 30, 1927 — May 16, 2023

Dorothy T Wilson was born on September 30, 1927, to the late Eugene and Henrietta Titus. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating high school Dorothy went on to further her education at Central State University, Wilberforce Ohio where she earned a BS in Education in 1950. Central State University is where she met and later married the love of her life the late Charles Clinton Wilson. From this union they were blessed with two children: the late Charles T Wilson and Sherri Wilson Poole. They have one granddaughter, Chakeitha (Kiki) McKever.

Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother. Dorothy and Charles had an active social life and loved to travel in their mobile home with their many friends. Dorothy shared a loving and close relationship with Charlie, Sherri and Kiki. Dorothy loved to shop and was a sharp dresser. She also loved to go to the movies.

Dorothy was an outstanding and devoted educator and taught middle and elementary grades for Columbus City Schools for over 37 years. Her love for education inspired her to become the founder of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.'s Columbus Ohio Chapter, Gamma Alpha. Dorothy was a long-standing active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Sigma Omega Chapter.

She was a member and served as Treasurer for many of the organizations she belonged, to include the Columbus Chapter of Continentals, Inc, the Columbus Chapter of Epicureans, Inc, the Mannequin Club, The Staccatos Club, The Top Ladies of Distinction and Jack & Jill of America. She enjoyed her monthly outings with close girlfriends known as the Lunch Bunch.

Dorothy lived in Teakwood Heights for over 60 years, and she made many friends who became part of her extended family; special thanks to neighbors Karen Gore, Charlene Humphry, Agnes Jennings and the Turner girls for their continued love and support.

Dorothy was called home to be with her lord and savior on May 16, 2023. She passed peacefully at the James Cancer Center with her family by her side. Sherri was her steadfast caregiver for over 5 year and as such, enabled Dorothy to age in place at her home, never having to engage with assisted living or nursing homes.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Henreitta Titus, her husband Charles C Wilson Sr, her beloved son Charles Wilson Jr, two brothers Eugene Titus Jr and Edwin A. Titus.

Dorothy will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Sherri Wilson Poole, her granddaughter Chakeitha McKever, her devoted nephew Sterling (Robin) Titus, and a host of family and friends.
