Doug Rhodes, a gentle giant and beloved family man, passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on October 16, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, Doug lived his life with an unwavering love for his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.
Doug was a proud papa whose heart knew no bounds. He had a special way of connecting with children, and all kids were naturally drawn to his warm spirit. This profound love for his grandchildren—Skilor, Makenzie, Miley Grace, Harper, Holden, and Leo—filled his life with unparalleled joy and happiness. Doug was not just their grandfather; he was their confidant and friend, always ready to share a laugh or lend a listening ear.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Rhodes, and his two adoring children, Hillarie (Zach) Buchwalter and Justin Rhodes. His heart was also closely tied to his sisters, Kathy (Tom) Thompson and Carolyn Conley, who shared countless moments of love and laughter with him throughout the years.
Doug's legacy is also carried in the memories that will forever live in the hearts of all those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Rhodes; mother, Loretta Gaddis; and brother, John Rhodes—each of whom he missed dearly and whose memories kept him grounded in his own family values.
A visitation to celebrate Doug's life will take place on March 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio.
As we remember Doug Rhodes, we will forever hold close the essence of his gentle nature, the kindness in his heart, and the love that he so generously shared with everyone around him. His spirit shines brightly in the lives he touched and the family he adored, reminding us all of the importance of love, laughter, and connection.
