Douglas K. Mizer

Douglas "Doug" K. Mizer, age 70, of Columbus, died Friday, January 28, 2022 at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.

He was born September 28, 1951, in Newark, Ohio. Doug was the only child of the late Charles Kermit Mizer and Mabel Lucille (McKnight) Mizer. He graduated from Newark High School in 1969 and was a graduate of The Ohio State University.

Doug was employed for 37 years at the Nationwide Insurance Company in downtown Columbus. He was a Specialist in Process Management and worked in the department of Commercial Lines Product Administration and Implementation.

Doug's favorite sport was playing table tennis and he was active in local clubs. He was a former member of the Columbus Table Tennis Club. Doug and a friend also formed the table tennis club at Carriage Place. He was co-captain at the Nationwide's Corporate Challenge table tennis team where he competed in numerous competitions over the years. One of the last competitions Doug played in was the Buckeye Open 2005.

Doug is survived by several cousins and extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Marti (Zimmerman) Mizer, who passed away on September 4, 2021; his father in June of 1991 and his mother in March of 2009.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 10th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. There will be a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at a later date at the Newark Memorial Gardens in Newark, Ohio.
