Douglas Paul Smith, age 27, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born on September 6, 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida to Douglas and Elizabeth Smith.
Doug was a loving and caring young man full of potential. Always ready to help anyone at a moments notice. He grew up traveling internationally and living all across the globe. Doug became an Eagle Scout while living in Nigeria. Later graduating high school from the American School in the Hague, The Netherlands. Then went on to New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. His travels gave him friends from all over the world. He enjoyed snowboarding, running, hiking, boating, and his dog Major. He went on to join the Army and was always so proud. He had an aspiring career with plans to go to officer candidate school later this year.
Doug was so loved and taken too soon. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Douglas is survived by his sisters, Victoria and Courtney; grandparents, Douglas Edward and Mary Ann Smith; Barbara Schmidt; aunts and uncles, Mary (Robert) Maliszewski, Paul (Rochelle) Schmidt, James (Nina) Schmidt, Steven (Michaela) Schmidt, and Brian (Bethany) McGreevy and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Marianne Smith, and maternal grandfather, Paul Schmidt.
A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH 43065 from 3pm to 6pm, Saturday, March 5, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 10700 Liberty Road South, Powell, OH. 43065.
