Dr. Dale R. "Dick" Cornett, 80, of Howard and formerly of Gahanna, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008. Born to James A. and Sarah (Caudill) Cornett in Toronto, OH on April 18, 1928, Dick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Lehr; brothers, Dallas, Deforest and Delmar Cornett. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary (Crawford) Cornett; daughters, Lisa (Paul) Duvall and Brenda Cornett; son, Douglas Cornett; sisters, Dixie (Neil) Bevan and Sarah (Rev. Ward) Harris; brother, David (Ginny) Cornett; grandchildren, Joshua (Angie) Roberts, Tim Roberts, Susan Cornett, Olivia (John) Gross and Serena Duvall; great-grandchildren, Rachel Gross, Logan Gross, Sammy Gross, Cydney Cornett, Nolan Cornett and Jude Roberts; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel Foster, Naomi (Kenneth) Rogers, Frances (Richard) Berger, Robert (Ava) Crawford and Mary E. Cornett; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dr. Cornett established Gahanna Animal Hospital and was affiliated with Reynoldsburg Animal Hospital. Dick was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon and was a member of the Columbus Chapter of "Barber Shoppers", AppleValley Singers and Orbiting Squares. Dick will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2008, 5-8PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, 11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mifflin Twp Cemetery. A Memorial Service at Ebenezer Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon will be held at a later date.
