Dr. Philip S. DeVore, 63, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at his residence in Lewis Center, OH. He was born on May 24, 1953 in Lynchburg, VA.
He is survived by his son, Adam DeVore; mother, Betty Herfel DeVore; father, Don DeVore; siblings, Vicki (Michael) Foster, Dale (Julie) DeVore, Dr. Richard (Cindy) DeVore, Dr. Ronald (Duneen) DeVore, and Valerie (Jack) Yurich; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and Special Friends, Judy, Kristy, and Ziva.
Phil graduated from Northland High School, class of 1971. Phil then graduated from The Ohio State University with two Bachelor's Degrees, two Master's Degrees, and his Ph.D in Education. Dr. Phil taught in the Columbus Public School system, at O.S.U., and the Department of Youth Services. He was a Reserve Franklin County Deputy Sheriff Officer. Phil also helped author textbooks for the Education Department at O.S.U. He loved his family and wildlife, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, OH 43231. Funeral Services will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Chapel on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 1:30pm. In honor of Philip's love for OSU, please wear Buckeye attire to the visitation and service.
