Duane Floyd McCoy

Duane Floyd McCoy, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 1st, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Duane was born on April 25, 1934, in Denver, Colorado. He was the cherished husband of Ardith McCoy for 68 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Ardith; his daughters Sharon (Michael), Dianne (Doug), Yvonne (Joe); his sons David (Lauren) and Stephen (Karen); as well as 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Duane is also survived by his sister Elishelah and his brother Glen.

Duane dedicated much of his life to service, both to his country and his community. He served in the United States Navy for four years and was a proud participant in an Honor Flight on September 6th, 2014. Duane worked for Bell Systems for 35 years, where he was highly respected for his commitment to his work.

A deeply faithful man, Duane was an active member of various WELS churches in his area. He held numerous volunteer positions, including serving as a council member and elder, and he contributed his time to Lutheran Parish Resources. Duane was also dedicated to his local community, volunteering as a youth sports coach, working with Meals on Wheels, and helping with election polling.

In his spare time, Duane was an avid woodworking hobbyist who enjoyed creating beautiful pieces. He was also a painter, and his art decorates the homes of his family. Duane cherished the outdoors, spending many happy hours fishing, camping, and traveling. He loved visiting many places in the United States, Europe, and even Australia.

Duane’s legacy of service, kindness, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Duane's memory to Honor Flight, Children's Hospital, or Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.

Visitors will be welcomed on Thursday, January 9th, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Newcomer in Grove City, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on January 10th, with viewing available at 9:30 AM and the service beginning at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Concord Cemetery (East). Participants are invited to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church afterward for a luncheon.
